PFOCN CEO Ms. Alice Visits Tarlac, Celebrates 2026 Batch 1 Graduation Amid Typhoon Rains

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — August 25, 2026

PFOCN Chief Executive Officer Ms. Alice Xie visited the Tarlac Training Center today to check on the 2026 Batch 1 Maintenance Skills Training Program and attend its graduation ceremony. Accompanied by members of the management team, she personally handed out certificates of completion to 10 Filipino trainees and presented special awards to the batch's top performers.

The visit reaffirmed PFOCN's commitment to developing local talent and strengthening the country's telecom infrastructure. During her time at the center, Ms. Alice underscored that as PFOCN continues to expand its network across the Philippines, local operations and maintenance personnel remain the company's most valuable asset—with Filipino team leaders already taking on critical roles in the field.

Training Pushes Through Despite Typhoon Rains The delegation arrived at the Tarlac Training Center in the morning, right as the  outer rainbands of a passing typhoons swept through the area. The weather was rough – steady rain, muddy grounds – but the training went on without interruption, Dressed in full safety gear, including high-visibility vests and hard hats,  the trainees broke into specialized groups and walked through their field tasks:

Manhole Diagnostics & Testing: One team worked on spare fiber coil management and conducted OTDR link testing at a roadside manhole, following wet-weather safety protocols.

Muddy Route Tracing & Depth Judgment: Another group navigated muddy pathways, using underground line detectors to trace cable routes and measure burial depths. Precision Workmanship & Splicing: Inside the practical training area, trainees performed full cable preparation work—from stripping outer sheaths and cleaning fibers to fusion splicing, coil organization, and closure sealing.

Ms. Alice made her way to each station, standing with the trainees at the roadside manholes to review OTDR trace curves, leaning in to check line detector screens, and examining fiber alignment and splices on the fusion splicer displays. She also took time to speak with lead instructors and network O&M managers, going over potential operational standards and parameter thresholds. She praised the instructional team for their work and commended the trainees for their technical skill – especially given the challenging conditions.

Keynote Message: Building a Strong Local Force for the Future

The graduation ceremony took place in the afternoon at the training center. Ms. Alice, together with heads of the Maintenance Department, presented each graduate with their official Maintenance Skills Training Certificates  along with awards for those who stood out.

In her keynote address, she acknowledged the Miantenance department’s ongoing efforts in training and highlighted what this program means for the company’s long-term goals:

"Our commitment to structured skills training is clearly paying off. To date, we’ve seen over 50 qualified graduates come through this program, with 15 now leading field maintenance teams. That’s a win for of you personally, and it’s a major step forward in building our localized talent pool.”

She reminded the graduates of the weight of their work:

In network maintenance, the little things matter - and responsibility is everything. Fiber optic cables are the lifelines of modern communication. If we take care of every kilometer, if we keep pushing our technical limits, PFOCN will continue to move forward with strength. The future belongs to you and to us together!

She closed with a call to action:

“Today, you graduate from Tarlac. Tomorrow, you’ll be out there leading teams - patrolling routes, making connections, protecting fiber lines across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The company provides the certification, the vehicles, and the support. You deliver the network stability.

After her speech, Ms. Alice presented the completion certificates to all graduates and joined the instructional team and trainees for commemorative group photos.
